Teaching

We teach Basic music theory, harmony, counterpoint and composition at JULIAN MUSIC. Ongoing individual lessons or tutorials are available and can be arranged with Chris Robinson directly. Such lessons can be given in your own home - depending on the distance we would need to travel from Ipswich, our Company location - or by coming regularly to us at Nacton Road, IP3 9JW. 

Individual sessions cost £12.00 for 30 minutes; £25.00 for an hour; £40.00 for 90 minutes; longer sessions by negotiation; Group sessions by negotiation. 

Chris also teaches Brass instruments – French Horn (F & B flat), Trumpet, Cornet, Tenor Horn (E flat), Euphonium, and Tuba. He prefers to teach adults who learnt young and gave up after leaving school. You will need to bring your own instrument and show your ability to read music in an appropriate clef to a basic level. 

Associated Board grades are encouraged, only if appropriate, and we can prepare and enter you for them at a local ABRSM examination centre.

Young beginners are taught only by negotiation with parents/guardians, and at slightly less cost, in sessions of 20 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour.  

Your first lesson will be FREE. We can assess your playing standard and see whether we get along together.

We GUARANTEE that, if you regularly practise your lesson content on your instrument, YOUR STANDARD OF PLAYING WILL IMPROVE RAPIDLY.
